Plot thickens

H’m:
An AP-Knowledge Networks poll finds that 47% of Democrats think Presidential Obama should be challenged for the 2012 Democratic presidential nomination while 51% say he should not be opposed.
I always doubted it… but he may be hitting that Jimmy Carter/Poppy Bush sweet spot, and drawing intra-party opposition.
Couple that with this, and you’ve got to wonder.

I hate to say this, but the difference is that Barack Obama has 1/3rd of the Democratic primary electorate totally and completely locked up, i.e. black voters. That isn’t the way it should be, but it’s true. I think there is almost nothing he can do to lose the black vote.
That’s why I always assumed no challenger — black vote + college liberal vote > 50%.
But we’ll see.
